If only all VA employees treated Veteran-Patients like Richard Lee Davis did!

LOS ANGELES, CA – As a nationally recognized Veterans Rights Advocate for the last 26-years, and as a Veterans Affairs Journalist for the last 19-years, I feel compelled to tell this story because of the extraordinary and outstanding performance of Veteran Patient Care I personally observed on at least 3-separate occasions by 5-year Navy Veteran Richard Lee Davis when Davis worked as a Gurney Bus Escort in the Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) Program at the VA Medical Center West Los Angeles transporting mostly elderly and very frail Nursing Home Patients on Gurneys to and from appointments at the main hospital in 2015 and 2016.

The respect, dignity, and empathy in which I observed Davis treat these Veteran Patients was unlike anything I have ever observed before at any VA Medical Center, not only by any other CWT worker but by any VA employee in the same or similar job capacity. And it was obvious to me that these Patients felt the same way I do, and knew that they had somebody very special indeed, caring for them.

On top of all of the above, Davis within the scope of appropriate humor would make them laugh and smile, and therefore, for a moment at least, Davis helped them mitigate and expunge the pain and suffering they were experiencing.
